L’opposant congolais, Martin Fayulu, a appelé à « soutenir » et « accompagner » le Dr Jean-Jacques Muyembe, placé à la tête du comité multisectoriel de lutte contre Ebola. « Ebola est une très mauvaise chose. C’est une maladie qui peut détruire tout un pays », a affirmé M. Fayulu, lors de son meeting tenu dimanche 4 août au quartier camp Luka dans la commune de Kintambo, à Kinshasa.
« On nous a placé Dr Muyembe. C’est lui qui a terminé Ebola à Bikoro. C’est un fils du pays et connaît bien ce domaine-là. Il faut le soutenir. Soyons tous derrière lui pour éradiquer cette épidémie », a ajouté Dr Muyembe.

La Présidence de la République a désigné le 20 juillet dernier, Dr Jean-Jacques Muyembe comme secrétaire technique du comité multisectoriel de la lutte contre Ebola. La supervision directe est placée sous la conduite du Président de la République, Félix Tshisekedi.
Dr Muyembe a présenté vendredi 2 août à Goma son plan pour combattre Ebola. Il recommande principalement de limiter la mobilité des contacts, la vaccination géographique et l’implication des leaders locaux.
Le virus est déclaré « urgence mondiale » par l’Organisation mondiale de la santé (OMS). Cette épidémie a déjà fait plus de 1800 morts sur les plus de 2 600 cas enregistrés.
Par ailleurs, Martin Fayulu a remercié la Police nationale congolaise (PNC) qui a assuré la protection de son meeting, qui s’est déroulé dans le calme. Il a demandé aux Congolais de ne pas avoir peur quand on leur demande de manifester publiquement.
Dans son discours Il a estimé qu’avant Kabila, égal après Kabila. Il a demandé à la population de bannir le tribalisme et de rester vigilante sur « la vérité des urnes », car le peuple gagne toujours.
