Rock singer Ayres Sasaki died on July 13 after being electrocuted during a concert at a hotel in Salinópolis, a seaside resort northeast of Belém, in the state of Pará in Brazil, according to Brazilian media.
The 35-year-old musician died almost instantly after hugging a soaked fan at the show. The contact caused a fatal electric shock, underlines the Brazilian press. Attempts were made to resuscitate him, but without success, specifies the regional daily, Diàrio do Parà.
According to the newspaper, the tragedy occurred when the musician was using his guitar. Local police have opened an investigation. “Witnesses were questioned and experts were requested to assist in the investigations,” authorities said in a note relayed by Billboard Brasil.
“We are fully committed to supporting the family (…). We reiterate our commitment to working with the competent authorities to provide the necessary clarifications,” said the Solar hotel, site of the tragedy, via a press release.
Passionate about music, Ayres Sasaki, who worked as an architect and town planner, performed in bars and opened for famous national rock groups, such as CPM22, in 2021. He leaves behind him his wife, Mariana Sasaki, and his daughter, specifies the daily O Globo. A few days after the death of her husband, the widow expressed, again in the local press, all her gratitude to the public for “each message of affection and comfort, for each prayer in this difficult period” that she received as support.
