Bien plus modeste par sa taille que Cannes, Berlin ou Toronto, le Festival du film de Locarno s’est fait une place à part dans le monde de la cinéphilie, par ses choix exigeants et sa sélection internationale. Parmi les 17 films en compétition cette année, un long métrage venu de Syrie fait l’évènement : Fi al-Thawra.
Filmé à Homs et Alep, le documentaire Fi al-Thawra (During Revolution, Au fil de la révolution) est le premier long métrage de la cinéaste syrienne Maya Khoury. Il nous emmène au cœur du conflit qui ravage son pays depuis 2011.

L’image est parfois floue, le son improbable, les mouvements de caméra abrupts. Et pourtant, ce film est un évènement à tous égards. Par ses conditions de fabrication d’abord, sept ans de tournage parmi les manifestations, au milieu des combats de rue, parfois sous les bombes.
